Trapped in the Darkness

Trapped in the Darkness

I created this image for my Photoshop 2 class this semester.  The project was to create an image just using a scanner.  I first scanned my hands, touched it up with photoshop, then scanned my face.  I was really hard not to breathe on the scanner because it left a smudge mark, so I had to hold my breath the entire time.  I blended the two layers together and created this.  I thought it looked really cool and I love the effect that a scanner gives.

  1. This reminds me of someone frozen in ice. It kind of has a creepy feel to it, but considering the title of the piece it seems you may have wanted it that way. It is very interesting that you used a scanner to make this piece, great job with photoshoping it!

  2. The title definately reveals what you expect the viewer to interpret. When first viewng this I would have guessed that it was a realistic painting. It was interesting to find out that this image was actually done wth a scanner, and that it was two diffrent scans on top of eachother. I think the use of photoshop eally helped bring the two images together, and also tgave them that painterly look that I enjoy about it.

  3. Your image is pretty interesting. It definitely conveys the sense of being "trapped". It could even be a movie cover! For a second I thought this was taken using a DSLR because there's a definitive focal point.
