This image was taken at the Prescott National Cemetery at VAMC for an assignment of Editorial Photography. I had decided to follow my son, a Sergeant in the National Guard and in charge of the Honor Guard detail for funerals, to see if I could capture some images. As I was walking up to the top of the hill, where the funeral was to take place, I passed this open tomb in the memorial wall.

This image would not have the same affect for me if it was in color. It makes me so sad and it being in B&W helps me feel the sadness that goes along with losing someone. You took it at a great angle.
ReplyDeleteThis is a powerful image. The black and white sets the tone of the reality of life, war and the cost of freedom. Great composition!
